Echeveria "Yun Yao" – Origin: Asia

The Echeveria "Yun Yao" features a compact and low-growing rosette, formed by thick, fleshy, and wavy-looking leaves. The leaves are broad, with irregular edges and slightly curled upwards, creating a very marked texture. Its base color is bluish-green with a visible layer of bloom, while the edges show a soft yellowish tone that highlights the silhouette of each leaf.

Overall, the Echeveria "Yun Yao" develops a dense and somewhat unruly structure, with leaves that overlap irregularly, especially in the center. The surface may show slight marks or tonal variations, and the wavy shape is accentuated as the plant matures, adding volume and visual relief to the rosette.

Variegated Echeveria: cultivation and care

Variegated echeverias develop a lower photosynthetic capacity than their completely green counterparts, which directly affects their growth rate, sensitivity to excess sunlight, and tolerance to watering.

  • 🌞 A lot of filtered light and gentle exposure
  • 💧 Water only with the substrate completely dry
  • 🔥 Avoid extreme heat and prolonged humidity
  • 🌱 Slower growth than non-variegated echeverias

Environmental stability, good ventilation, and avoiding sudden changes in location help maintain more compact rosettes and a more stable variegation over time.

During intense summer, they may partially slow their growth, especially in warm climates. In these phases, controlling excess moisture is much more important than increasing the frequency of watering.
