About Don Suculentas

Learn about our history and evolution within the succulent collecting community.

Welcome to Don Suculentas.

We are Petunia and Narciso, and this project arises from a long, constant relationship deeply connected to the world of succulents. What began as a personal hobby over two decades ago has transformed, over time, into a professional project that continues to evolve and adapt to the realities of the industry.

Our story is not one of a business created overnight, but rather a journey traveled with patience, learning, and many plants along the way.

A passion that started when everything was more difficult

Our relationship with succulents began in the early 21st century, when access to these plants was very limited and information scarce. At that time, only a few common species could be found, and in many cases, expanding a collection meant exchanging plants with friends or small circles of enthusiasts.

What captivated us from the beginning was their adaptability, their diversity, and the way these plants survive and thrive in difficult conditions. That initial curiosity led us not only to collect but to observe, experiment, and learn from each mistake.

Share, learn, and grow as collectors

Over time, what started as a hobby began to take shape as a project. We wanted to better understand the plants, their real needs, and how to cultivate them correctly and sustainably.

Starting in 2009, with the expansion of the internet and the emergence of specialized online communities, we began to connect with other collectors from all over Europe.Forums like Infojardín were key for exchanging knowledge, experiences, and plants.

In those years, we also discovered online sales, which allowed us to access specialized European nurseries and producers.

A stage of pause and a new beginning

Between 2012 and 2017, various personal and professional changes reduced our dedication to succulents. We lost part of the collection, but we gained perspective.

In 2018, we decided to resume this passion with more strength, experience, and a much clearer vision.

The discovery of the Asian market and importation

With the growth of e-commerce, we came into contact with the Asian market, especially with producers from Korea. There we discovered a level of selection and hybridization that did not exist in Europe.

That discovery marked a turning point. At the beginning of the 2020s, we launched Succulovers, making legal imports of Korean succulents for the European market.

In-house production and the closing of a stage

In March 2023, we took a further step by renting larger facilities to produce our own succulents. It was an intense stage, where we developed our own lines and worked with hybrids.

However, the market changed. Competition increased, and large-scale production became unviable for a project like ours. At the end of 2025, we decided to close that stage.
