Echeveria "Tsunami" variegated – Origin: Asia

The Echeveria "Tsunami" variegated is a hybrid of Echeveria gibbiflora that stands out for its wavy structure and compact yet prominent stature. It forms a rosette of fleshy leaves with curled edges, where intense green combines with irregular cream areas that add depth and contrast.

In the Echeveria "Tsunami" variegated variety, the variegation is usually concentrated in the center and in sections of the outer leaves, creating very pronounced light plays on the slightly wavy surface. The edges may be accentuated with reddish tones when the plant receives good lighting, reinforcing the sculptural character typical of hybrids derived from gibbiflora.

Variegated Echeveria: cultivation and care

Variegated echeverias develop a lower photosynthetic capacity than their completely green counterparts, which directly affects their growth rate, sensitivity to excess sunlight, and tolerance to watering.

  • 🌞 A lot of filtered light and soft exposure
  • 💧 Water only with the substrate completely dry
  • 🔥 Avoid extreme heat and prolonged humidity
  • 🌱 Slower growth than non-variegated echeverias

Environmental stability, good ventilation, and avoiding sudden changes in location help maintain more compact rosettes and a more stable variegation over time.

During intense summer, they may partially slow down their growth, especially in warm climates. In these phases, controlling excess moisture is much more important than increasing the frequency of watering.
