Echeveria "Morning Dew" variegated – Origin: Asia

The Echeveria “Morning Dew” variegated is the variegated version of this hybrid derived from Echeveria setosa var. ciliata × Echeveria sp., where a compact structural base combines with a softer and more ornamental finish. It develops a very balanced rosette, with fleshy, slightly rounded leaves and a marked apex, inheriting from setosa that tendency to form well-defined plants, but with a cleaner aesthetic and less pronounced texture.

The Echeveria “Morning Dew” variegated stands out for its variegation in cream and light green tones, accompanied by very defined pink edges that intensify with good light. This combination creates a very attractive contrast between the soft center and the marked margins, providing a lot of visual presence without losing elegance. It is a particularly interesting variety among variegated hybrids due to its balance between compact form, vibrant coloration, and that slightly marked touch on the edges that makes it stand out in a collection.

Variegated Echeveria: cultivation and care

The variegated echeverias develop a lower photosynthetic capacity than their completely green counterparts, which directly affects their growth rate, sensitivity to excess sunlight, and tolerance to watering.

  • 🌞 A lot of filtered light and soft exposure
  • 💧 Water only with the substrate completely dry
  • 🔥 Avoid extreme heat and prolonged humidity
  • 🌱 Slower growth than non-variegated echeverias

Environmental stability, good ventilation, and avoiding sudden location changes help maintain more compact rosettes and a more stable variegation over time.

During intense summer, they may partially slow down their growth, especially in warm climates. In these phases, controlling excess moisture is much more important than increasing the watering frequency.
