Echeveria "Flamenco" variegated – Origin: Asia

The Echeveria "Flamenco" variegated presents a large open rosette, with broad, flat, and slightly wavy leaves, typical of the hybrids of Echeveria gibbiflora. The leaves are fleshy, with a gently curved margin and rounded tip, featuring a less compact and more spread-out arrangement than in other Echeverias.

The Echeveria "Flamenco" variegated shows an irregular variegation that combines cream and green tones, with diffuse areas blending into each other. The edges acquire an intense reddish coloration, especially under light stress conditions, while the surface may display pinkish hues and darker areas distributed variably on each leaf.

Echeveria "Flamenco" variegated: general information and care

The variegated succulents in this collection include ornamental hybrids whose variegation may evolve slightly over time. The intensity of the cream, yellow, and reddish tones may vary depending on light, watering, and environmental stability.

This behavior is part of their appeal as collectible plants. You can expand all general recommendations in our specialized guide: Complete guide to growing variegated succulents .

Growth and Behavior

Variegated echeverias generally exhibit slower growth than their non-variegated counterparts. During the early stages, they may take time to develop a compact and well-formed rosette, which is completely normal for this type of plant. Their evolution largely depends on the stability of the growing conditions and avoiding sudden changes in location, temperature, or watering.

Sun Exposure

Light is a key factor in the cultivation of variegated echeverias, but it must be managed with caution.

  • They prefer abundant and well-filtered light
  • Direct intense sunlight should be avoided, especially during the central hours of the day
  • A gentle exposure in the morning or late afternoon is ideal

An excess of sunlight can cause burns, while a lack of light can lead to open rosettes or unbalanced growth.

Watering

Watering is one of the most delicate aspects in the cultivation of variegated echeverias.

  • Water only when the substrate is completely dry
  • Avoid wetting the leaves at all times
  • Watering by immersion is the safest and most recommended method

Excess water is the main cause of problems in this type of plant, especially during periods of lower activity.

Temperature

These plants develop best in moderate temperatures.

  • Ideal range: between 12 °C and 30 °C
  • Protect against frost
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat

With very high or very low temperatures, the plant reduces its activity, which must be respected by adjusting watering and care.
