Echeveria "Compton Carousel" variegated – Origin: Asia

⚠️ Attention: especially wicked plant 👹

This variety is known for its extreme sensitivity to excess moisture. We recommend very controlled watering, preferably by absorption, and avoiding wetting the leaves or the center of the rosette whenever possible.

A highly draining substrate, good ventilation, and complete drying periods between waterings are essential to keep the plant in optimal condition. Due to its predisposition to suffer from fungal problems and rot, it is considered a particularly delicate variety within succulent cultivation.

The Echeveria "Compton Carousel" variegated is one of the most recognizable varieties within succulent collecting. It develops compact rosettes of fleshy, broad, and slightly wavy leaves, with a very marked variegation in cream and butter yellow tones against a bluish-green background.

The contrast between the light areas and the base color creates a very characteristic luminous effect. The Echeveria "Compton Carousel" variegated is slow-growing and considered delicate compared to other echeverias, which increases its value within the specialized market.

Variegated Echeveria: cultivation and care

Variegated echeverias develop a lower photosynthetic capacity than their fully green counterparts, which directly affects their growth rate, sensitivity to excess sunlight, and watering tolerance.

  • 🌞 A lot of filtered light and soft exposure
  • 💧 Water only with the substrate completely dry
  • 🔥 Avoid extreme heat and prolonged humidity
  • 🌱 Slower growth than non-variegated echeverias

Environmental stability, good ventilation, and avoiding sudden changes in location help maintain more compact rosettes and a more stable variegation over time.

During intense summer, they may partially slow down their growth, especially in warm climates. In these phases, controlling excess moisture is much more important than increasing the frequency of watering.
