Echeveria agavoides "Leopard" variegated – Origin: Asia

The Echeveria agavoides “Leopard” variegated is a variegated selection of Echeveria agavoides characterized by its compact rosette, with thick, triangular, and well-defined leaves, where the firm and pointed structure typical of the species is maintained. This genetic base provides an orderly and symmetrical growth, with tightly packed leaves that form a clean and very stable rosette, particularly standing out for its marked tips and sharp aesthetics.

The Echeveria agavoides “Leopard” variegated exhibits variegation in cream and light green tones that contrasts with the appearance of reddish pigmentation on tips and edges, especially under good lighting. In this clone, the characteristic reddish speckling type “leopard” also develops, which intensifies with light stress and adds an extra level of visual detail. The combination of variegation + red speckling on such a defined structure makes it a very attractive piece among variegated agavoides.

Variegated Echeveria: cultivation and care

Variegated echeverias develop a lower photosynthetic capacity than their completely green counterparts, which directly affects their growth rate, sensitivity to excess sunlight, and tolerance to watering.

  • 🌞 A lot of filtered light and soft exposure
  • 💧 Water only with the substrate completely dry
  • 🔥 Avoid extreme heat and prolonged humidity
  • 🌱 Slower growth than non-variegated echeverias

Environmental stability, good ventilation, and avoiding sudden changes in location help maintain more compact rosettes and a more stable variegation over time.

During intense summer, they may partially slow down their growth, especially in warm climates. In these phases, controlling excess moisture is much more important than increasing the frequency of watering.
