Aeonium "Snow Girl" variegated - Origin: Don Suculentas

The Aeonium “Snow Girl” variegated is a mutation of Aeonium “Zwartkin”, hybrid resulting from the cross between A. tabuliforme and A. ‘Zwartkop’, belonging to the group of hybrid variegated aeoniums in collection. It forms open rosettes of elongated and narrow leaves, with a very marked chromatic evolution depending on the season. During winter, green tones predominate accompanied by cream-yellow margins that begin to acquire pinkish hues as light exposure increases.

With the increase in light and temperature, the reddish coloration intensifies and progressively advances from the edges towards the center of the leaf, while the central green evolves into very dark tones, between deep red and almost black. The growth center usually remains in yellow-green tones even during periods of maximum coloration. One of the most distinctive features of the Aeonium “Snow Girl” variegated is the summer behavior of the foliage, as the leaves tend to twist and undulate, creating a much more dynamic and expressive rosette. It has good branching capacity and relatively fast growth. Plant imported from China and reproduced in our greenhouse.

Aeonium variegados: cultivation and care

The variegated aeoniums have a different growth cycle compared to many other succulents, developing mainly during autumn, winter, and spring, while in summer they significantly reduce their activity.

  • 🌞 A lot of filtered light and good ventilation
  • 💧 Moderate watering only when the substrate is completely dry
  • 🔥 Avoid intense sun and excess humidity during summer
  • ❄️ Protect against prolonged frosts

During the summer dormancy, the rosettes tend to progressively close to protect the growth center from extreme heat. In this phase, excess moisture can easily cause root problems, especially with high temperatures and tropical nights.

Observing the plant and adapting to the actual growing climate is much more important than following strict watering schedules.
