Aeonium "Ink Painting" variegated - Origin: Don Suculentas
The Aeonium “Ink Painting” variegated is a mutation of Aeonium ‘Mardi Grass’, easily recognizable by the dark and irregular streaks that appear on the foliage. It forms wide rosettes of elongated and slightly spatula-shaped leaves, with a very marked chromatic evolution depending on the season. During winter, green and cream tones predominate, while with the increase of light and temperature, the center progressively darkens and the typical black markings that give this cultivar its name begin to develop. At the same time, the light areas evolve into increasingly intense pink tones.
The Aeonium “Ink Painting” variegated normally maintains the growth center in green and cream tones even during periods of maximum coloration. In warm seasons, the leaves may show slight twists or undulations, adding even more character to the rosette. This is a vigorous variety, with good growth and branching capacity among the variegated aeoniums. Resistant to sun and heat, although sensitive to frost like the rest of the genus. Plant imported from China and reproduced in our greenhouse.
Known names: ‘Ecstasy’, ‘Beyonce Painting’

Aeonium variegados : cultivation and care
The variegated aeoniums have a different growth cycle than many other succulents, developing mainly during autumn, winter, and spring, while in summer they significantly reduce their activity.
- 🌞 A lot of filtered light and good ventilation
- 💧 Moderate watering only when the substrate is completely dry
- 🔥 Avoid intense sun and excess humidity during summer
- ❄️ Protect against prolonged frosts
During the summer dormancy, the rosettes tend to progressively close to protect the growth center from extreme heat. In this phase, excess moisture can easily cause root problems, especially with high temperatures and tropical nights.
Observing the plant and adapting to the actual growing climate is much more important than following strict watering schedules.
