Aeonium "Fire Kirin" variegated - Origin: Don Suculentas

The Aeonium "Fire Kirin" variegated is a mutation within the Aeonium “Plum Purdy” line, passing through its variegated form known as “Chanel,” where the genetics lead to a much more extreme expression within variegated aeoniums. It features a compact and dense rosette, with wide and rounded leaves where the focus clearly lies on the color, creating an intense aesthetic within variegated succulents.

In the Aeonium "Fire Kirin" variegated, the variegation is neither clean nor symmetrical, but rather appears integrated into the leaf, blending with intense red tones, dark burgundy, and black. In many leaves, this “flame” effect can be seen, where the red seems to expand towards darker edges, creating a very dramatic contrast. With good light, the colors become fully saturated and the plant develops a changing and unpredictable expression, becoming a very dynamic piece among the most extreme variegated aeoniums. Plant imported from China reproduced in our greenhouse.

Aeonium variegados: cultivation and care

The variegated aeoniums have a different growth cycle than many other succulents, developing mainly during autumn, winter, and spring, while in summer they significantly reduce their activity.

  • 🌞 A lot of filtered light and good ventilation
  • 💧 Moderate watering only with the substrate completely dry
  • 🔥 Avoid intense sun and excess humidity during summer
  • ❄️ Protect against prolonged frosts

During the summer dormancy, the rosettes tend to progressively close to protect the growth center from extreme heat. In this phase, excess moisture can easily cause root problems, especially with high temperatures and tropical nights.

Observing the plant and adapting to the actual growing climate is much more important than following strict watering schedules.
