Aeonium "Cloud Lotus" variegated - Origin: Don Suculentas

The Aeonium “Cloud Lotus” variegated is believed to be a mutation derived from Aeonium Halloween, known in Chinese as Yún Hé, belonging to the group of more recent collection variegated aeoniums within the Asian import market. It develops compact and balanced rosettes, with leaves that show a green center accompanied by margins that can acquire pink or reddish tones depending on light intensity and growing conditions. This color transition provides a very elegant and controlled appearance within the collection of variegated succulents.

Like other mutations related to Aeonium Halloween, the Aeonium “Cloud Lotus” variegated tends to exhibit slow growth during the early stages, concentrating much of its energy on forming a dense and well-structured rosette before progressively accelerating its development. Although there is still no reliable botanical information about its exact origin, it stands out for its stability, its smooth chromatic evolution, and its refined aesthetics, making it a particularly interesting variety for collectors of variegated aeonium and rare imported plants. Imported plant from China and reproduced in our greenhouse.

Aeonium variegados: cultivation and care

Variegated aeoniums have a different growth cycle than many other succulents, developing mainly during autumn, winter, and spring, while in summer they significantly reduce their activity.

  • 🌞 A lot of filtered light and good ventilation
  • 💧 Moderate watering only with the substrate completely dry
  • 🔥 Avoid intense sun and excess humidity during summer
  • ❄️ Protect against prolonged frosts

During the summer dormancy, the rosettes tend to gradually close to protect the growth center from extreme heat. In this phase, excess moisture can easily cause root problems, especially with high temperatures and tropical nights.

Observing the plant and adapting to the actual growing climate is much more important than following strict watering schedules.
