Aeonium "Black Besta" variegated - Origin: Don Suculentas

The Aeonium "Black Besta" variegated is a mutation within the Aeonium “Ink Painting” line, derived from Aeonium “Mardi Grass”, in which the variegation completely transforms its chromatic reading towards a much brighter expression within the variegated aeoniums. It maintains the characteristic open and radial structure, with elongated leaves that are slightly widened at the tip, providing a clean and balanced presence among the variegated succulents.

In the Aeonium "Black Besta" variegated, a very bright green base predominates, occupying almost the entire leaf, especially in the center. The traits inherited from its genetic line appear very subtly, with slight darker shadows in the central axis and a fine reddish line on the edges that intensifies slightly with light. The result is a fresh and uniform plant, where the dark load is in the background, ideal for collectors looking for light and elegant variegated aeonium among variegated succulents. Plant imported from China reproduced in our greenhouse.

Aeonium variegados: cultivation and care

Variegated aeonium have a different growth cycle than many other succulents, developing mainly during autumn, winter, and spring, while in summer they significantly reduce their activity.

  • 🌞 A lot of filtered light and good ventilation
  • 💧 Moderate watering only with the substrate completely dry
  • 🔥 Avoid intense sun and excess humidity during summer
  • ❄️ Protect against prolonged frosts

During the summer dormancy, the rosettes tend to gradually close to protect the growth center from extreme heat. In this phase, excess moisture can easily cause root problems, especially with high temperatures and tropical nights.

Observing the plant and adapting to the actual growing climate are much more important than following strict watering schedules.
