Aeonium "Big Bang" variegated - Origin: Don Suculentas

The Aeonium "Big Bang" variegated is a direct mutation of Aeonium “Zwartkop”, where the extreme dark base is broken by very marked variegation bursts within the variegated aeoniums. It features a more irregular rosette, with somewhat narrower leaves and a more dynamic growth, moving away from perfect symmetry and adding a wilder character within the variegated succulents.

In the Aeonium "Big Bang" variegated, the variegation appears in light, green, or yellowish sectors that contrast very intensely with the almost black burgundy background. Each leaf can express itself differently, generating unique combinations in each rosette. With good light, the dark tones intensify while the light areas become more luminous, creating that explosive contrast effect so characteristic of the most expressive variegated aeoniums.Imported plant from China reproduced in our greenhouse.

Aeonium variegados: cultivation and care

The variegated aeoniums have a different growth cycle compared to many other succulents, developing mainly during autumn, winter, and spring, while in summer they significantly reduce their activity.

  • 🌞 A lot of filtered light and good ventilation
  • 💧 Moderate watering only when the substrate is completely dry
  • 🔥 Avoid intense sun and excess humidity during summer
  • ❄️ Protect against prolonged frosts

During the summer dormancy, the rosettes tend to progressively close to protect the growth center from extreme heat. In this phase, excess moisture can easily cause root problems, especially with high temperatures and tropical nights.

Observing the plant and adapting to the actual growing climate is much more important than following strict watering schedules.
