Echeveria "Monroe" variegated – Origin: Asia

The Echeveria "Monroe" variegated is a hybrid between E. laui and E. colorata var. colorata, presented in its variegated form. It develops a wide rosette, with thick and slightly arched leaves. The surface is smooth, with a soft bloom characteristic of its laui lineage.

The variegation appears in diffuse stripes in light green, cream, and more intense green areas towards the center. The leaves maintain a gently rounded outline and a very orderly posture. Under intense light, the margins may acquire a very faint pink blush. The Echeveria "Monroe" variegated is a plant of serene growth, compact and visually very balanced.

Variegated Echeveria: cultivation and care

Variegated echeverias develop a lower photosynthetic capacity than their completely green counterparts, which directly affects their growth rate, sensitivity to excess sunlight, and tolerance to watering.

  • 🌞 A lot of filtered light and soft exposure
  • 💧 Water only with the substrate completely dry
  • 🔥 Avoid extreme heat and prolonged humidity
  • 🌱 Slower growth than non-variegated echeverias

Environmental stability, good ventilation, and avoiding sudden location changes help maintain more compact rosettes and a more stable variegation over time.

During intense summer, they may partially slow down their growth, especially in warm climates. In these phases, controlling excess moisture is much more important than increasing watering frequency.
